1kg of waste plastic recovered with every order

We've partnered with CleanHub who have already collected 13 million tonnes of plastic waste at hotspots around the world.

Your purchase helps communities continue to recover waste plastic

At Frankton's, we are committed to reducing the use of single-use plastic and to prevent it reaching our oceans. We take action to reduce our own packaging and also fund organisations throughout the developing world to collect both recyclable and non-recyclable plastics before they can reach the ocean.

We've partnered with CleanHub, who invest in waste management solutions across Asia. When you make an order with us, we will pay CleanHub to collect 1kg of waste plastic. The entire process is tracked through CleanHub’s own Track & Trace technology, an ISO verified plastic collection system, ensuring every bag of waste collected is verified and tracked to make sure it doesn't end up where it shouldn't be.

Every purchase with us supports all of these efforts

  • Prevent plastic from reaching the oceans.
  • Support jobs in local communities where worker's welfare is a priority.
  • Empower people to live in clean towns and villages.
  • Invest in cutting-edge technology that opens up new ways of collecting and recycling waste.

Our partnership with CleanHub

Cleanhub works on the front lines to prevent plastic waste from reaching the ocean. By working with local communities, waste is captured before it can enter marine environments, particularly in regions where waste management infrastructure is limited or non-existent.

By supporting these initiatives, they aim to eliminate ocean-bound plastic through a circular economy model, a system that recycles resources, minimises waste and maximises reuse.

Recyclable vs. non-recyclable

80% of plastic waste that ends up in the ocean is so-called flexible packaging or multilayer packaging, like crisp packets, sauce sachets, etc. This material is either impossible to recycle or there is no market demand for it. Plastic that can’t be recycled is openly burned in small backyard fires or in landfills, or it is carried away by monsoons. While collecting all types of plastics, CleanHub focus on non-recyclable plastic to create a maximum impact.

Focus on non-recyclable

Recyclable materials that are collected are still dealt with by selling them on to local recycling schemes. But it's non-recyclable waste where CleanHub invest recources. Previously, this was not financially viable but with investment from CleanHub and partner brands, a demand has been created, giving this type of material a market value and encouraging an industry to flourish.

Non-recyclable plastic waste is collected, sorted, and then sent to cement plants that turn the non-recyclables into alternative fuel. This is then used to power the plants, which would otherwise predominantly use coal. It means that on top of protecting oceans from plastic pollution, we also lower the carbon footprint of cement plants.
